Our Calling Together
I moved to Waco, Texas in 2010 after working as a pilot for about 3.5 years in Oklahoma City. It was clear that the Lord was moving me another step toward engaging in full-time missions, but I had no idea what that meant at the time. When I moved to Waco, I thought I would be there for about a year for training and then head overseas. Little did I know, the girl of my dreams was on staff with the training program.
There was actually a no-dating policy within the training program at that time and I had been thrilled about it up until meeting Jenny. God began to speak to me about this woman and I was undone. Nevertheless, I sought to be a man who honors my commitments, so we never spoke of relational possibilities even though I was certain I was going to marry her by the seventh month of the nine month program. So, as any sane man would do, I asked her out the moment the program ended and our dating and engagement process was pretty short. We dated for five months and then were only engaged for about three. During our engagement, I mentioned to Jenny that the Lord had given me the world map vision for my life back in 2003. I had overheard her tell a friend of mine about her experience once before, but had not shared my part of the story with her. She was shocked and ecstatic that the Lord had given us the same vision for our lives and we were ready to figure out this marriage thing.
We were married less than a year after the program ended and began to discuss the way God had spoken the same locations to both of us to engage in long-term works. I, Scott, was ready to go right then but Jenny wanted a little time to set up a cute home and learn to be a wife. Within six months of being married, however, the Lord began to burden my heart for France. It came unexpectedly, since I had not previously been interested in Europe. I found my heart breaking more and more for the French people though, and myself moved to see them connected the their loving Father in Heaven.
